A 15-month-old Carroll County boy allegedly abused by his parents could be removed from life support this week, police said Monday.
Doctors plan to run additional tests on the critically injured boy, who remained Monday at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said. The toddler’s skull was fractured and his jaw, ribs and vertebrae were broken when he was brought to the hospital Dec. 15, according to an incident report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Investigators were called to the hospital on a suspicion that the child had been abused, police said. The injured boy’s sibling was taken into state custody, and the following morning, both parents were arrested.
Steven Ray Harry, 32, and Kristin Angeline Parmer, 25, were each charged with first degree child cruelty and booked into the Carroll County jail. Both Harry and Parmer were denied bond at their initial court appearances and remained in jail Monday.
The alleged abuse against the boy happened at the Carroll Inn hotel near Villa Rica, where the family of four was living, police said. Additional charges could be filed against the parents, police said Monday.
