Two men were arrested Monday morning after they ran straight into police while chasing down a man they kidnapped in Clayton County during an air conditioning unit repair, authorities said.

Miguel Angel Ibarra-Olivares, 38, is charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, battery and driving while unlicensed. Gerardo Ibarra-Saldona, 39, is charged with kidnapping and battery.

The day of the incident, the victim went to a home in the 100 block of Sharon Drive to repair the air conditioning unit, Clayton County police spokesman Officer Jordan Parrish said. A dispute over money ensued and the two men beat the victim with a gun and kidnapped him, Parrish added.

Ibarra-Olivares and Ibarra-Saldona are accused of putting the man in a truck with a hood over his head, preventing him from being able to see, police said. The victim told authorities he was able to escape when he felt the truck stop. He jumped out of the vehicle and ran toward the back of a residence shortly before 3 a.m. Monday, police said.

The two men began chasing after the victim until they were met by Clayton County and Riverdale police, officials said. They were arrested “without incident” and booked into the Clayton County Jail.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police did not say why the two men kidnapped the victim and are unsure if they knew the victim prior to the incident.
