The Roswell City Council recently approved changes to the city’s Minority/Women-Owned/Small Business Enterprise policy and procedures regarding eligibility of vendors to participate in the program.

The city’s current M/W/SBE policy and procedures were adopted on March 15, 2004. To maintain grant compliance and in pursuit of continuous improvement, the policy is reviewed regularly.

The city will now accept applications and determine program eligibility based upon the applicant’s status with the State of Georgia Department of Administrative Services as a Certified Minority Business Enterprise or the Georgia Department of Transportation as a Certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise.

This change will mean less specific control over the application process, but the city’s current program currently has a low rate of participation with only 5 participants. This change could improve participation numbers since 3,765 firms would become immediately eligible for certification.
