Periodically each city reviews details within the Unified Development Code to make adjustments. The Alpharetta City Council recently approved several amendments to address fence and wall regulations along multiuse trails and parking and loading to address the different levels of electric vehicle charging stations.

The city also made changes regarding signs to prohibit face illuminated channel letter signs, to require master sign plans for all commercial shopping centers and extend the time allowed for banner signs for new businesses.

Text amendments were also approved regarding tree conservation, landscape and buffer requirements to remove pine trees as a specimen or tree of quality and to allow homeowner’s associations to review certain requests for tree removal in front yards.

Two additional changes were made to add regulations pertaining to the installation of multi-use trails and architectural style requirements for buildings in the Alpharetta Downtown Code.
