A $415.4 million general fund budget for the 2021-2022 school year received final approval by unanimous vote of the Henry County Board of Education at its May 10 regular meeting.

An expected shortfall of $7.6 million was reduced to $6 million in the past month as a reported increase in the tax digest resulted in a $2 million increase in projected revenue, according to district officials, who added that the shortfall can be met through the use of federal funds allowed for continuity of services. Average spending per student under the new budget is $9,786, an increase of $550 over the previous year.
