The McDonough City Council voted at its Oct. 7 regular meeting to approve a $100 increase in the annual license fee for insurance companies. According to a city staff report, officials were notified by the Georgia Municipal Association that the 2020 census figures showing an increase in the city’s population to 29,051 make it permissible for the city to increase the license fee. It is expected that the change will provide the city with an increase in revenue of approximately $10,000 to $15,000 per year. The new ordinance is scheduled to take effect at the beginning of 2022.
