A special called meeting of the McDonough City Council has been scheduled for Monday, Aug. 23, at 4 p.m. for the sole purpose of discussing the COVID-19 situation in the city. This will also be the city’s first virtual meeting, since the council voted Aug. 16 to allow for such gatherings. Officials noted that the council chambers cannot be used for such a setup due to audio feedback loop issues, so all council members will be in other rooms at City Hall or elsewhere. It was also pointed out in the Aug. 16 discussion that all right now city employees are either showing proof vaccination or being tested once a week. Information: mcdonoughga.org.
