The Suwanee City Council recently approved a contract with Garrett Paving Company, Inc. for the 2021 Local Maintenance Improvement Grant road resurfacing project.

Work required under the contract includes traffic control, asphalt milling, asphalt patching, leveling, resurfacing, adjusting sewer manholes, installation of pavement markings, etc. along approximately 2.54 miles on various city streets.

According to the city’s website, the city’s public works department performs a road improvement needs assessment analysis of city-maintained streets every year. “The needs assessment takes into consideration pavement conditions and deficiencies, such as cracking, patching, and potholes, as well as traffic volume.”

Roads selected for improvement are determined based on need, available funding through the Georgia DOT’s Local Assistance Resurfacing Program, and available city funds.
