A fire at a Buford business temporarily closed a portion of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard on Wednesday, Gwinnett County fire officials said.

Firefighters were called to 1450 Peachtree Industrial about 9:45 a.m. and found the building engulfed in flames, according to a fire department spokesman. The business was an auto parts store, and due to the vehicles and automotive fluids inside, it took firefighters extra time to contain it.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which forced firefighters to close Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in the area in both directions in order to reach a hydrant. The road reopened in the afternoon.

“The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources provided manpower and an excavator which was used to take down pieces of the structure so that firefighters could extinguish any remaining fire without the threat of a collapse hazard,” the fire department said in an emailed statement.

The Gwinnett police department also deployed a drone to give investigators a better view of the scene.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. But investigators were able to rule out suspicious activity.
