Fayette County residents age 65 and older can get updates about upcoming COVID-19 vaccine availability from multiple sources. Although no schedule has yet been set by the county health department for vaccinating older citizens outside of long-term care facilities, individuals can sign up for alerts at www.district4health.org/services/community-health/covid-19/. Information will also be posted on the department’s website, www.district4health.org, and on its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

“We are excited to begin vaccinating more people, like those 65 and older, but there are a lot of moving parts and we ask for the public’s patience,” the department posted online. “We are working on a plan for this much larger group in expanded phase 1A and will have details soon.” The nonprofit Fayette Senior Services said it will also disseminate information about vaccine scheduling once it is announced.
