Two of the seven seats on the Fayette County Board of Health are now open for applications. The board works with the state Department of Public Health and 18 district health directors to provide mutual support, assess local health needs, prepare budgets and provide policy guidance. Each board position has specific requirements; one of the two open seats requires someone who is a consumer or advocate for consumers of health services, while the other member must represent “the needy, underprivileged or elderly.”

Candidates must be Fayette County residents at least 21 years old and be available for terms that begin Jan. 1, 2022 and expire on Dec. 31, 2027. Board members are paid $25 per meeting. Applications are available under the Public Notices section of www.fayettecountyga.gov and must be submitted to County Clerk Tameca Smith by Oct. 15. Information: 770-305-5103 or tsmith@fayettecountyga.gov.
