Hanukkah, Christmas events coming up in DeKalb

Through the end of the year, many holiday events are planned in DeKalb County - mainly about Christmas and Hanukkah.

Here are a few of them but just those being held mainly in Avondale Estates, Dunwoody and the city of Stone Mountain.

Avondale Estates AvondaleEstates.org

  • Holiday Bake Sale by Avondale Woman’s Club: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Avondale Community Club.
  • Poinsettia Sale by Avondale Elementary School. $15 each for white or red 6.5-inch poinsettias. Order by Nov. 26. Drive-through pickup will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Beth Breit Gym.
  • City Christmas Tree Lighting: 6 p.m. Nov. 29
  • Menorah Lighting for Hanukkah, a Jewish holiday: 6 p.m. Nov. 30
  • Winter Wonderland: 1-6 p.m. Dec. 4
  • Holiday Market: noon-6 p.m. Dec. 12
  • Christmas Tour of Lights: 5:30-8:30 p.m. Dec. 12

Dunwoody

  • Opening Night for Spruill’s Holiday Artists Market. 6-9 p.m. Wednesday. Spruill Gallery, 4681 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody. In person, online or by curbside pickup, shop items from more than 100 Georgia artists through Dec. 23 but closed Thanksgiving Day. SpruillArts.org/HolidayArtistsMarket
  • Drive through or online: Operation Christmas Child. Gift-filled shoeboxes can be built online for distribution worldwide to children in need as a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse.
