DeKalb County crews were called to an industrial building Friday morning after it caught on fire when a cosmetics worker was melting down natural oils, authorities said.

The call originally came in as a car wreck into the Doraville commercial building in the 3800 block of Oakcliff Industrial Court, but when Battalion Chief Daniel Long showed up with the rest of his crew, that incident was nowhere to be found. A fire was located inside RA Cosmetics LLC in the mixed-use facility, Long said.

“We did find smoke inside one of the units. Crews made entry, found a small fire in a stove, where they were cooking up some cosmetic stuff that they make at the location,” Long said from the scene as police sirens blared in the background.

The fire was put out quickly and no one was injured, Long said. Adjacent businesses were vented by firefighters who checked for other fires throughout the complex. No other fires were found.
