The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police has recertified the Dunwoody Police Department.

That recertification makes the department among 19% of law enforcement agencies in Georgia to be state certified.

The award was given by State Certification Coordinator Chuck Groover of the state association to Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan during the Dunwoody City Council meeting on Oct. 11.

Groover noted that the voluntary recertification is a three-year process.

In a letter to Grogan, the association’s Executive Director A.A. “Butch” Ayers said, “State Certification is neither easy, nor simple.”
