Cities in DeKalb County will be getting into the holiday spirit over the next few weeks by holding Christmas events, Menorah lighting ceremonies and other festivities.

A few cities already held events, such as Stone Mountain’s annual Christmas parade and Decatur’s tree lighting. However, most cities will hold their holiday events during the next week, so DeKalb families looking to enjoy some merry fun still have plenty of options.

Here are a list of several holiday events set to take place throughout the county:

Avondale Estates Christmas Tour of Lights

On Sunday Dec. 12, Avondale Estates will hold its 29th annual house and light tour from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The tour includes a dozen decorated homes spread across the city’s small footprint. Tickets can be purchased at Finders Keepers Consignment, Garage Door Studio or Avondale City Hall for $20 per car. Online tickets are available at avondaletourofhomes.com for $25 per car.

Light Up Brookhaven

On Wednesday Dec. 8, Brookhaven’s Blackburn Park will host holiday-themed activities and lots of lights from 6 to 9 p.m. Santa is also expected to make a flashy appearance at 6:30 p.m. by arriving in Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s helicopter. Rabbi Brian Glusman and members of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta will also light a Hanukkah Menorah and dreidel as part of the free event. Light Up the Night in Doraville

On Saturday Dec. 11, Doraville will hold a tree lighting along Park Avenue from 4 to 7 p.m. The free, holiday-themed event will bring in winter festivities and signal the end for the city’s year-long sesquicentennial celebration, where Doraville honored its 150-year-old past. Lights at Brook Run Park in Dunwoody

Every day through Dec. 27, Dunwoody’s Brook Run Park is decked out with more than 75,000 lights for residents and visitors to enjoy for free. This year, the city themed the lights after popular holiday movies, so kids and adults alike are sure to recognize some familiar faces. More information is available at dunwoodyga.gov.

Fly through Hollywood Holidays, which lights up nightly at #Dunwoody's Brook Run Park. Enjoy more than 75,000 lights, and interact with sets from Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story. The self-guided display is FREE, open to all ages, and runs through Dec. 27. Soulful Tree Lighting Spectacular in Stonecrest

North Pole at Tucker
