A man was killed in a fiery crash early Thursday when the moving truck he was driving tipped over onto I-85.

The victim’s body was found in the driver’s seat of a burned-out moving truck that had overturned near Cheshire Bridge Road, according to the DeKalb County Fire Department.

The moving truck was on its side in the southbound lanes of the interstate when crews arrived about 3 a.m., department spokesperson Capt. Jaeson Daniels said. The vehicle was engulfed in flames.

Crews worked to extinguish the blaze, and when they brought it under control, the man’s body was discovered. The victim’s identity has not been released.

The moving truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash and no other injuries were reported, Daniels said.

The crash shut down the southbound lanes of I-85 for hours, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. By 5:40 a.m., only one left lane of the interstate was open.

All lanes were reopened by 8 a.m., the Traffic Center reported.
