"Koya-san, Japan or Mt. Koya, is the headquarters of the Shingon sect of Buddhism.  It is a UNESCO World Heritage sure.   The sect was founded by Kobo Daishi in 816 AD. There are dozens of Buddhist temples in the town," wrote Bennet Alsher of the photo taken Nov. 20, 2019 during a vacation in Japan.
