Cobb County officials have closed Powers Ferry Road between Delk Road and Terrell Mill due to a water main break.

The county first reported the break at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday, and water service was restored to nearby businesses roughly three hours later. The water main has been repaired, and an emergency crew is currently working to repair the road, said Ross Cavitt, the county spokesman.

“I would not be surprised if the road is reopened by mid-afternoon,” Cavitt said. “Hoping to get it open before the evening rush hour.”

Commuters are advised to take alternate routes such as Delk Road to Terrell Mill east of the break, or Bentley Road until the road repairs are complete.
