Nominations for 2021 Citizen of the Year Awards are open in Cobb through Sept. 24.

The awards were established by Cobb County civic clubs and are cosponsored by the Cobb Chamber Area Councils and Cobb County business associations.

Awards are given to deserving individuals based on local area nominations in Acworth, Austell, East Cobb, Kennesaw, Mableton, Marietta, Powder Springs, Smyrna and West Cobb.

These awards are given to honor a person whose impact, through the years, will be recognized and regarded as a role model throughout their area.

They are chosen for their definable, exceptional deeds with which they have made their communities better places in which to live.

Nominees should demonstrate definable, exceptional contributions that showcase a dedication to making Cobb County or one of its areas a better place to live, work and play.

The individual may have a history of impacting the community in addition to notable impact throughout this year.

Selection for Citizen of the Year recipients is not limited to a resident of a specific area or a member of a specific organization such as the Cobb Chamber Area Councils, the Cobb Chamber or a Cobb County business or civic association.
