A rezoning request for a mailing and shipping service was denied 6-0 recently by the Austell City Council.

Tunbol International was the applicant for the property at 2938 Humphries Hill Road.

The request was to rezone the property from residential to General Commercial.

While the request was denied by the City Council, approval was recommended by the city’s Planning and Zoning Board by a 4-0 vote and the Community Affairs Department.

With residents on both sides of his proposed business, Mayor Ollie Clemons Jr. said the location was not conducive.

Other Council members also voiced concerns about locating a commercial business in a residential area.

Councilman Devon D. Myrick said the business would need to be ADA compliant, with sprinklers in the warehouse.
