Summertime and family time just go hand and hand. So, naturally, it is the time of year for meaningful family outings at some of the city’s favorite attractions.

Last week's Best of Atlanta poll discovered the best family attractions our city has to offer.

Step into an underwater universe at your favorite family hangout, the Georgia Aquarium. Marvel at aquatic creatures of all types and sizes for hours on end at this nationally famous hometown treasure.

Get all the warm and fuzzies at Zoo Atlanta, following in a close second for best family attraction in Atlanta. Here the fun comes in the form of learning, expanding our knowledge of the world right here at home.

Coming in third, Children's Museum of Atlanta features bright, creative, hands-on exhibits designed to promote inventive problem solving, creative thinking and artistic expression in children age 0-8.

Most families need a variety of options to make it through a summer of fun. Be sure to check out our other official nominees: Stone Mountain Park (DeKalb), Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water (Cobb), Lanier Islands (Gwinnett), Andretti Indoor Karting & Games (North Fulton) and World of Coca-Cola (Intown).

There's nothing like a family dip at the pool, so stay cool in the heat with some of metro Atlanta's best family-friendly public pools.

And no need to sacrifice your child's interest over your own this summer. These five outdoor activities that kids and adults can share give you some pleasureable options for everyone.

Have older ones in the house? They will appreciate these unusual things to do in Georgia.
