Tiny Doors ATL to open public studio at Atlantic Station

It’s the first public studio space for the ongoing public art project

Your guide to Atlanta's Atlantic Station

Tiny Doors ATL just got quite a big bigger. The ongoing art project throughout the city will open the doors of its first public studio at Atlantic Station.

The forthcoming 1,541-square-foot studio will allow visitors to get a look behind the scenes at the creation of the installations.

Karen Anderson Singer, creator of the project, hopes to use the space to bring people together for things like artist talks — once it is safe to do so.

"When the studio opens (when it's safe to do so), you'll be able to get a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the doors, learn about the project's history, and attend special events and artist talk series. There will even be a a tiny window display of ongoing projects," Tiny Doors wrote on Instagram.

"Since the beginning of Tiny Doors ATL, the goal of each location has been to bring the community together in an authentic way. I wanted my studio location to do the same," Singer said in a statement.

The public art project got its start when the first door popped up at the Krog Street Tunnel. Over the years, Singer has expanded the 7-inch high displays in various locations, including along the Beltline and Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark.

The public studio is part of Atlantic Station’s effort to focus on community art.

“We're launching our ongoing property-wide art initiative to provide unexpected sparks of joy around the neighborhood for residents, employees and visitors, and I can't think of a more perfect launch than welcoming Tiny Doors ATL as our artist-in-residence,” Atlantic Station’s marketing director Kristie Ray said in a press release.
