Saturday is a can't-miss day throughout Atlanta. Restaurants, bars, nightclubs and events centers are always filled with people enjoying their weekend on the town. In addition to the endless choice of bars, there are several great Saturday events happening across the city.

Starlight Drive-In swap meet

Atlanta's favorite (only?) drive-in movie theater hosts a flea market and swap meet on weekend mornings, weather permitting. Early rising vendors begin selling at 6 a.m. and the event runs until 3 p.m. For those looking to reserve a seller space, the cost is $20, but for the shopper, it's free to park and just 50 cents for admission.

Farmers Markets

There are more than a half-dozen year-round farmers markets in Atlanta, and many more during the warmer months. Especially worth the trip in springtime are the Peachtree Road Farmers Market and the Freedom Farmers Market at the Carter Center. Year-round markets include the Marietta Square Farmers Market and the notable Morningside Farmers Market, an all-organic marketplace offering a selection of locally grown fruits, vegetables, legumes, meats and artisan foods.

Don't miss out on Morningside's weekly demonstrations from some of the top chefs and restaurateurs in Atlanta. The Morningside market is a morning thing; open 7:30-11:30 a.m. every Saturday and 8-11:30 a.m. in the coldest months, January through March.

Secret comedy show at Smith's

This iconic Morningside bar has always been a safe Saturday bet for great local or regional music. If you're visiting, stick around for the long-standing late-night comedy show. The Saturday night "secret show" isn't exactly a secret anymore. It happens late, late night -- every Saturday night (or technically Sunday morning) at 1 a.m. The secret show gets its nickname because frequently, the headlining acts from Metro Atlanta comedy clubs will pop in unannounced to try new material for Smith's late-night crowd.

Healthcare at College Park, a nursing home in Fulton County, GA, stands shuttered with its door chained on July 26, 2025, having closed in recent months. Researchers at Brown University developed a list of U.S. nursing homes they predicted were at risk of closing based on 2023 data, and would be at elevated risk of closing due to the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act's cuts to Medicaid. Healthcare at College Park was on their list. It survived past its last federal inspection in August of 2024 but has now closed down. The bill's biggest provisions will roll out over years starting Jan. 1. (Ariel Hart/AJC)
