Think you've seen it all at Stone Mountain Park? Think again. This year's new entertainment ushers visitors from the Wild West to the West Coast. You'll experience magic shows, star in a parade and watch fire dance on the largest low-relief sculpture in the world. If you're looking for an exciting way to experience it all, consider an overnight in the new Stone Mountain Park yurts. Here are seven new reasons to add Stone Mountain Park to your summer bucket list.
Georgia Justice Wild West Train Show
Chug-a-chug on the Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad around the mountain and back in time, to the Wild West. For a limited time this summer, you can see old-fashioned gunfights, exploding outhouses, stunt falls and more. The new slapstick comedy adventure, Georgia Justice, gives train riders a peek at the western town antics as the town awaits the new sheriff's arrival.
Magic Time with Matt
Check show times and head to the Azalea Stage for new performances from Matt the Master Magician. This lively show is ideal for kids ages 2-10. Even if you've seen his show in previous years, this summer promises more tricks and exciting illusions.
Celebrate America Parade
Celebrate the USA all summer by staring in the evening's new Stone Mountain Park parade. Sign up at Compass Point at 6:30 each evening to participate. Show off your flag, don your red, white and blue, or just wave to the crowd during the 8 p.m. Celebrate America Parade through Crossroads. Even if you only enjoy it from the sidelines, the patriotic procession is fun for the whole family.
Summer at the Rock Sandbox
Little ones can cool off and chill out at the oversized sandbox in the Exposition. With water tables, a coloring wall and water misters, it's the perfect place for kids to explore. Rest between shows or give little legs a break from walking in an area specially designed with children in mind.
Adventures in America
Pose with Lady Liberty or take a selfie with Mount Rushmore's Lincoln. In fact, you can snap a photo with landmarks in all 50 states - without ever leaving the park! Make your way to the Dogwood venue to travel from the West Coast to the East Coast, all before sundown.
Lasershow on Fire
See the mountain light up like never before when three cannons send flames 100 feet in the air during the Lasershow Spectacular. In addition to this trio of phenomenal fire, the new fireworks finale includes multi-color explosions that dance on the water at the monadnock's base. A true Georgia must-see event, the lasershow's grandeur is free with paid parking, or you can upgrade to the Snack Terrace experience for the best view of this summer's excitement.
Stone Mountain Park Yurts
Stone Mountain Park introduces three new contemporary yurts to the park's popular campground. Lounge lakeside as you enjoy outside decks, picnic tables, charcoal grills, a fire pit and water access. Inside the wood and canvas glamping tent you'll find log furniture, heat and A/C, electric outlets, large windows, skylights, ceiling fans, lockable doors and sleep space for up to five guests. All you need are sleeping bags or linens, personal items and friends for sharing the adventure.
