Fill up on pizza while taking in views of the full moon.

That’s the idea behind the Full Moon Pizza Trek being hosted by Explore Atlanta on March 9.

The event kicks off with slices at Ammazza on Edgewood, then will make two additional pizza stops on the stroll up the Eastside Beltline Trail: Fritti and New Realm Brewing.

Kicking off at 6 p.m., the group will gather at Ammazza, before beginning a 1.25-mile stroll. While enjoying the stroll, be sure to look to the sky to enjoy the view of the full “worm” moon, expected to rise at 7:50 p.m.

For the uninitiated: The full worm moon is the last full moon of winter. According to Farmers' Almanac, it got its name because it appears as temperatures begin to warm, the ground thaws and therefore, worms return to the soil.

Tickets for the tour are $5, which will go toward pizza at the first stop, then the group will split the checks for the pies at each stop and each attendee will pay for their own drinks.

Typically, each guest gets 2-3 slices per stop, according to a listing for the event.

Steve Saenz started Explore Atlanta about six years ago after retiring. It was a chance for him to discover the city he's called home for 35 years, he previously told the AJC.
