Quasimodo is missing quite a bit of his spine, but he makes up for it with a heart full of love.

The unusual-looking dog came to the attention of the Minnesota-based rescue group Secondhand Hounds, who took in the stray that was originally found in Kentucky. Named Quasimodo after the "Hunchback of Notre Dame" character, the 3-year-old German shepherd was diagnosed with short spine syndrome, which causes his stunted appearance. Quasimodo is one of only 13 dogs in the world known to have the condition, according to the rescue group.

While the dog has some underlying health issues that are being addressed, the short-spine syndrome is not interfering with Quasimodo’s ability to enjoy life, other than the fact that he can’t turn his head. He is able to run and play with other dogs, and his foster mom says he is a lover.

Quasimodo has his own Facebook page called Quasi the Great.

While the rescue is being inundated with calls regarding adoption, the organization says that it is focused on addressing the dog’s health issues before adoption will be considered. In the meantime, Quasimodo is being spoiled in a loving foster home.
