Moms looking for a tasty perk-me-up in the morning might be interested in the iCoffee, a new coffee-brewing machine manufactured by Remington that makes use of a patented steam-brewing process to produce a rich, smooth-tasting cup of Joe.

And rich it is. On the counter, it looks just like any other coffee maker, but internally it functions much differently. The 12-cup iCoffee pre-steams the coffee by using six stir jets that work in a rotational movement to keeps the grounds stirred and to lead to a coffee crema while preventing the compaction of coffee that can lead to a bitter, acidic taste. Its technology, called SteamBrew, can be witnessed by looking through the coffee-brewing window at the top of the unit.

The ‘i’ in iCoffee stands for ‘innovation.’ It comes with a Goldtone filter that eliminates the need for paper filters and uses a BPA-free carafe. It also has a warming plate that keeps coffee warm for up to two hours and makes use of a stop-drip for pausing and serving.

Mozart, anyone? The iCoffee begins the brewing process by playing a short Mozart allegro. For those who prefer silence, hitting the ‘m’ button on the digital panel can mute this fuction. The iCoffee also has a 24-hour programmable system and an auto start button.

It can be purchased for $149.99 online through Bed, Bath & Beyond and comes with a one-year warranty. Although it cannot be purchased on the iCoffee.com website, various replacement parts can are available there, including the carafe for $24.95 and the brew basket for $39.95. An iGrinder can also be purchased for $59.95.
