Family welcomes newborn on same day for third year in a row
A family in North Dakota celebrated last week as they welcomed their third child born on the exact same day for the third consecutive year.
The number three appears to hold some special significance for the Stevenson family. Lauren and Seth Stevenson met in 2013 and married after a three-day engagement, three months after they met, according to The Dickinson Press.
The couple welcomed their third child, Henry, on Sept. 1. He shares his birthday with his siblings, 1-year-old sister Tommie and 2-year-old brother Axel.
"We were just overwhelmed with excitement and joy," Lauren Stevenson told "Good Morning America." "A healthy baby boy and the fact that he came on Sept. 1, the doctors, the nurses, my husband and I -- we just couldn't believe it."
Like his sister Tommie, Henry was born three days earlier than doctors expected. Axel's due date was Aug. 31, according to "Good Morning America."
The children were delivered by Dr. William Lowe, the family's obstetrician, at CHI St. Alexius Health in Dickinson.
"I think it's going to be a lot like herding cats. (It's) going to be very difficult (but) a lot of fun," he told KFYR. "They're young. They can do the running around they need to do. If the grandparents keep all three for the weekend, they're going to be exhausted by the end of the weekend, I'm pretty sure."
Lauren Stevenson told The Dickinson Press she hopes to have another child, although the family will likely wait for a few years. Axel and Tommie have been well-behaved, and "that's why we didn't have the common sense to stop," Seth Dickinson joked with the Press.
"Every time we try to have their birthdays, I'm always in the hospital having a baby," Lauren Stevenson told "Good Morning America." "I think for their birthdays we can have one big party. If they can share together, we can do one big birthday cake. If not, we'll have to give them their own cake and get them each their own present."
