August 10 is National Lazy Day, when sloths and slackers can feel good about their lifestyle choices.
If you’re the kind to always be on the go, then we’re here to help you be true to yourself and do something while doing nothing.
Have someone else cook for you
If you're being truly lazy, the last thing you want to do is cook. But you still have to eat. And you need to feed your dog. Take care of both tasks at Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar in the Peachtree Corners Town Center development. The restaurant features a dog-friendly patio with fire pit and lounge, and a soon-to-be-launched dog menu.
Lazy rivers
It's predicted to be hot this weekend, so why not grab a pool noodle and float along one of the area's lazy rivers? Public pools in Gwinnett, DeKalb and other counties have lazy rivers that will help you to stay cool. Some of these pools also have water slides, but you have to climb stairs to get to the top and that would defeat the purpose of National Lazy Day.
Read a book
Reading a book is a great way to do something while doing nothing. Pick an old favorite and curl up at one of these places around town that are perfect for relaxing with a good read. A good book can take you on an adventure without having to leave your cushy chair at the coffee shop.
Pick a park
This weekend is Reggae in the Park at Piedmont. If you're being truly lazy, you'll want to skip the morning run, but lounging outside listening to live music is what this holiday was designed for. You can also head to Legacy Park for the Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass festival. The most strenuous thing you'll do is stand in line for great food.
Spa-mageddon
Just laying on a table is the ultimate in lazy, but if you're getting a massage or facial at the same time, then you're not wasting your day. Atlanta spas offer treatments to relax your mind and body, without you having to do a thing. Check out these 10 relaxing spas around town.
For those who just can't let themselves be lazy, Atlanta has many options for things to do this weekend. Go to www.ajc.com/things-to-do and find an event that appeals to you.
