Being an Olympian is hard work, but those healthy habits and discipline come with some nice rewards.
So, what does it take to feel like an Olympian?
Try these tips that will get you feeling and looking ready to compete in the Olympic Games:
Eat like an Olympian
Summer is almost over, but that doesn't mean you have to throw that beach bod away. Continue those healthy eating habits (or start some new ones) at Corso Coffee at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta.
This Italian coffee bar offers a variety of cold-pressed juices to feel refreshed and ready to compete in Rio. Try the clean and lean juice, a mix of beets, apples, kale, carrots, lemon and ginger, to start your day. Take a lunch break and try the afternoon jive juice made up of spinach, apples, pineapple, mint and lemon, or take shots of wheatgrass if you’re feeling really crazy.
“I’m addicted to the "you’re glowing juice" from Corso Coffee, especially after an intense Monday FlyWheel class – really helps me to detox after the weekend and start the week on a healthy note,” said Nazy Gavahi, events and marketing manager for LDV Hospitality Atlanta.
Train like an Olympian
Looking to build some Olympic-sized muscles? Go for the gold with these fitness tips from Ulrick Bien-Aime, personal trainer and owner of Bien-Aime Strength and Stretch on Memorial Drive:
When it comes to eating habits, make sure you're getting at least six big meals every day, Bien-Aime suggests. Make sure you're supplementing this with plenty of water and electrolytes around exercise time. Vegetables and coconut water are great sources of electrolytes.
When it comes to exercising, your regimen must use weight that is moderately heavy to heavy with sets of four-to-six reps. Incorporate a lot of stretching into your workouts and remember to get plenty of rest.
"When competing, your mental strength is just as important as your physical strength,” Bien-Aime said. “You have to get enough sleep and eat properly, but when you visualize how you want to perform, you’ll be able to build lean and powerful muscle even faster.”
Look like an Olympian
Notice anything different about Olympians Ryan Lochte and Jimmy Feigen? The swimmers are sporting ice blue hair at the Olympic Games thanks to Atlanta stylist Jenn Jones at Akasa Salon.
Jones cut and colored the athletes' hair during the US Swim Team's stop in Atlanta. Book an appointment with Jones to recreate the look.
Want to dress like an Olympian? Though it's winter in Brazil, it is still summer in Georgia. Combat the heat with style in an Alton Lane deconstructed blazer in breathable linen that will be perfect for nights of celebration. Alton Lane is having a summer Olympics sale through August 21.
