Jordan McAuley believes every home should have a lively, and even glitzy, spot for serving up cocktails and gossip.

When he moved from a high-rise in Midtown into a condo at 905 Juniper, an eight-story, luxury building in Midtown, he briefly considered making a small room — not big enough for a bedroom or office — a spot for meditation, but laughed and said he knew it had to be a lounge.

“Every home should have a club,” he said. “No matter where I move, I have to change out all the lights and have a sound system and have one room where it’s like a fun lounge room.”

Name: Jordan McAuley, 37, an author and entrepreneur

Location: Midtown

Size: 1,432 square feet, two bedrooms, two baths

Year built/bought: 2006/2013

Architect: Cooper Carry

Architectural style: Urban contemporary

Favorite architectural element: An interior support column, which was plain and white before he moved in. He worked with Atlanta artist Todd Seay to paint the column gold and bedazzle it with Swarovski crystals. "When you walk around the room, it gives a little bit of sparkle," McAuley said. "I like doing things that are a little bit different."

Design consultants: Krystee Manifold Spencer, Gidding&Spencer (paint colors and wallcoverings); Cameron Watkins, C. Watkins Garden Co. (terrace landscaping)

Interior design style: Grecian glam

Favorite interior design elements: The gold and white color palette, which also fit with the blue paint the previous owner had used for the walls. The color combination reminded him of photos of the iconic villas in the Grecian island of Mykonos. "At this place, I wanted to do gold and glitz and make it a bit more glamorous. A lot of the accessories I bought were gold," McAuley said.

Favorite smart feature: The Philips Hue lighting system, which he uses to change the colors of lights, often to the beat of music, from his smartphone.

Resources: Furniture and accessories from Cantoni, Z Gallerie, IKEA, West Elm, RH, RH Baby & Child, Pier 1, World Market, CB2, Arhaus, Room & Board, Ballard Designs, Crate & Barrel, Chic: Evolution in Art and By Design; LG appliances; Myers Carpet; Innovations and Paul+, both at ADAC (Atlanta Decorative Arts Center), for the wallcoverings

Decor tip: Add elements to make your home more fun and bring out your personality by creating a theme and sticking to it.
