Eddie and Pam Pafford married 41 years ago and over the years, Pam carried memories of her grandmother’s house in Ohio.

“We had always wanted an old home, as long as we had been married. But we never found one,” Pam said.

The couple lived in a 4,300-square-foot home in Snellville and then planned to build a home near the Chattahoochee River that replicated components of farmhouses and century-old homes. But they were smitten by a simple white farmhouse with black shutters in the historic section of Norcross and sold the river lot. They bought the Gwinnett County home.

A location scout for the ABC drama, "Resurrection," later knocked on their door in search of a farmhouse-style setting. The show filmed at the property known as The Garner House, which will be on the Dec. 5 Historic Norcross Holiday Tour of Homes (historicnorcrossholidaytourofhomes.com).

Snapshot

Residents: Pam Pafford and husband Eddie, a dentist in Lawrenceville

Location: Norcross

Size: 4,180 square feet, four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths

Year built/bought: Early 1900s/2006

Architectural style: American Foursquare farmhouse

Renovations: The Paffords retained features, such as mismatched trim, that they felt added to the charm, but removed some prior updates that weren't in keeping with the home's age. The addition gave them a master bedroom on the main floor and a new master bath, and they converted another bathroom to a laundry room and office for Pam. The previous owners had used an existing room on the main floor as a bedroom. They converted that room to a den. They completed a carriage house behind the house a couple of years ago.

When “Resurrection” filmed scenes at the home, they installed a railing to the columned porch for the show’s opening scene. The landscaping also gained some azaleas. Once the show ended, the Paffords decided to keep those.
