A controversial powdered alcohol known as Palcohol has received federal approval, The Associated Press reports.
A spokesman for the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau told the AP that four varieties of Palcohol have been approved.
However, the spokesman said, states can regulate Palcohol as they see fit.

Federal regulators' approval of Palcohol could be bad news for some Florida lawmakers, who were hoping to ban the substance before the feds could approve it, the Palm Beach Post has reported.
Other states have considered Palcohol bans, including Colorado.
