Back by popular demand, free bike tours of the Atlanta Beltline resume in August.

These three-hour guided tours are a fun and fitness-filled way to learn about the history of the Beltline and the neighborhoods it passes through, get updates on ongoing and future construction and find out about other events and programs going on.

The Eastside tour takes place on two Saturdays per month, including August 6 and August 20. Departure is at 9 a.m. sharp from Mountain High Outfitters, located at Ponce City Market. The Westside tour takes place on two Sundays per month, including August 14 and 28. Departure is at 2 p.m. sharp from WeCycle Atlanta Headquarters and Bike Shop, located at 1124 Oak St. SW.

A complete calendar of tour dates and information can be found at beltline.org. That's also where you'll reserve your spot (tours are limited to 25 participants and fill up fast) and find all sorts of helpful information about when to arrive and how to have your bike and body ready for the 12-mile Eastside ride or the 9-mile Westside one (Fear not, there are " few rest stops and a snack break" along the way, organizers say).

Weather permitting, plans call for the bicycle tours to continue until around Thanksgiving.
