New numbers from the U.S. Department of Labor show 1.3 million new jobless claims over the last week.

As the coronavirus outbreak continues to throw the economy curveballs, many in Georgia and across the country are out of work. For job seekers in metro Atlanta, there will be a virtual career fair held on Aug. 12.

Being held by Job Fair Pro, the event will highlight positions available in the metro area.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to have their resumes handy and be prepared to do virtual interviews.

According to the event posting, there will be companies from industries including accounting, agriculture, auto, banking, beauty and cosmetics, construction, insurance, health care and more.

The virtual event will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12. More information on registering for the event can be found here.
