North Carolina publications

A number of genealogical and historical publications are available from the North Carolina Genealogical Society, which publishes an excellent journal found in many genealogy libraries. Among these books are one covering North Carolina Bible records, one on abstracts of letters of resignations of militia officers, and one on divorces before the legislature from 1779 to 1837. Information on these and others can be found on at www.ncgenealogy.org or by writing to the Society at P. O. Box 30815, Raleigh, NC 27622. The organization holds a series of meetings throughout the year and offers a CD of its major conference materials. The website also provides leads to other research sources.

50 most popular websites

The ProGenealogists organization has published a list of the 50 most popular genealogy websites for 2010. Some of the sites are free and some are by subscription. To find them, go to www.progenealogists.com and  search for websites. The sites on the list are ranked according to popularity and usefulness. This website has a lot more material on it, including a "Free Stuff" section.
