Since April 2019, construction has been launched on various areas of the 110-acre DeKalb county park to create an amphitheater, pavilion and new sports fields. The Brook Run Park Celebration will make use of the new entertainment venue with a line up of live performances throughout the nine-hour event.

Atlanta’s own Men In Blues, arena rock group Drivewire, classic rock band Grand Paradise and family-friendly singer-songwriter/Americana group Josh Gilbert Band will take the stage.

No need to worry about grooving on an empty stomach — there will be food trucks from The Mad Greek, Moondog Growlers, C-BO's BBQ & Southern Cuisine and Grubbin' Out among others.

The improvements will largely be located on a newly created Great Lawn, which will house a rental pavilion, terraced amphitheater, trail connectivity, event lawns and a free play field. Also coming to the park are athletic fields, which will consist of artificial turf, a concession stand and a playground.

A new picnic area, which will include trail connectivity and additional parking, are also being constructed. All new amenities will have restrooms, too.

It's a $7.6 million project that was approved by the City Council in December 2018. Throughout construction, however, the park has remained open.
