Planning the perfect date night for the holiday season? Attractions in Atlanta offer one-of-a-kind experiences neither of you will forget.
Brunch or dinner + A Christmas Carol
Kind of the reverse of the old wedding rhyme, try something new and something old. The new is dining near Cobb Energy Centre, because this is the Alliance Theatre's season on the road. While the Alliance's building is under renovation all performances are going to other venues. Use our guide to dining near the Centre to pick a restaurant new to you. The old, of course is our beloved "A Christmas Carol." Did you know Canoe is only 2.5 miles away, and Muss & Turner's is less than 5? It's a good pairing.
Garden Lights, Holiday Nights + dinner at Longleaf. Grab your tickets to Garden Lights, Holiday Nights at Atlanta Botanical Garden in advance, then make your reservation at the Garden's visually & gastronomically harmonic restaurant.
Atlanta Ballet's Nutcracker + Cypress Street Go casual and dine at Cypress Street Pint & Plate before you head to The Fox Theatre and enjoy a night of battle with the Mouse King. If you need more motivation, the Ballet is promising an all new production next year, so check this one out one more time.
SkyView Atlanta + dining Downtown
Soar nearly 20 stories in the air on the SkyView Atlanta Ferris wheel. This year you won't be gazing down at the holiday lights in Centennial Olympic Park. Expansion and renovation construction has taken our downtown winter wonderland away for this season, but that will allow you to focus on all the other buildings and lights. Use our downtown dining guide to pick out a restaurant. The Georgia Aquarium, an easy walk from Skyview is open till 9 p.m. too.
A Christmas Tradition + Ice Skating + The Butcher, The Baker
Spend time with your date in Marietta, taking in a Christmas revue at The Earl Smith Strand Theatre. Then skate in Glover Park and indulge in some OTP dining at The Butcher, The Baker.
SCAD Fash + Tavernpointe Tired of all the holiday-centric things to do? If your date loves fashion, visit Atlanta's fashion museum at SCAD Atlanta (it's open til 8 p.m. on Thursdays). Afterward, head across the street to Tavernpointe for a modern dining experience at this Midtown gastropub.
Dinner and a movie at Studio Movie Grill Dine on freshly prepared food and order from a full bar as Studio Movie Grill shows some great movies and serves great food. There are three metro locations: Duluth, Holcomb Bridge and Marietta (opens Nov. 16). Duluth and Holcomb Bridge will be showing Elf and A Christmas Story on select Wednesdays in December. Looks like it's a Star Wars Christmas in Marietta.
Garden Lights, Holiday Nights + ONE. midtown kitchen This is a busy time of year for Longleaf, the restaurant at Atlanta Botanical Garden. Instead, after touring the lights bring your ticket stub to ONE. midtown kitchen and receive up to $20 off your meal. See the details here.
Dinner + Ice Skating + Movie at Avalon or Atlantic Station
Both Avalon and Atlantic Station have dining options for every date night budget. Add in a spin around the rink followed by a movie.
Fantasy in Lights + The Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens
Turn your date night up a notch with an overnight stay at The Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens. The evening of your arrival, view Fantasy in Lights (the 8 million-light display), relax by the fire and splurge on a massage.
Atlanta Ballet's Nutcracker + Livingston Restaurant + Bar
Turn up the charm and indulge in an evening of ballet and fine dining (There's a Nutcracker Brunch too). For added romance, plan on spending the night at one of the Historic Hotels of America, The Georgian Terrace Hotel. Livingston is in the hotel.
