One Nebraska boy’s year is off to a very good start.
Not only did he receive a new 3D-printed prosthetic arm, it was hand-delivered by a very special guest.
Alvin Garcia Flores, 9, was born with a right arm that ends at the elbow, according to The Huffington Post. Gateway Elementary principal Terry Burton reached out to Limbitless Solutions, a University of Central Florida nonprofit organization, for help.
When the Florida-based students couldn't deliver the bionic arm they had created in person, WOWT reports that special arrangements were made to have the arm delivered to the school by Star Wars characters, since Flores is such a huge fan.
The 501st legion, a national Star Wars fan organization, offered to make the special delivery.
During a school assembly, Darth Vader appeared, and said, “Bring forth the one.”
Flores stepped up and was presented with the arm. Flores immediately attached the arm and gave Darth Vader a tour of the school. His classmates couldn’t wait to see the high-tech prosthetic creation.
