It's the home team's last season at Turner Field; as we remember all of the good times at the Ted, we also reflect on favorite Braves of all time. Which player came out on top in our Best of Atlanta poll? You guessed it -- Chipper Jones. The third baseman spent his entire 19-year MLB career playing for the Atlanta Braves. On June 28, 2013, the Braves retired Jones' number 10 and inducted him into the team's Hall of Fame. He returns to the team, and to Atlanta, this year in a coaching and advisory role. Welcome home, Chipper.
Sliding into second place is Dale Murphy. During an 18-year baseball career, 1976–93, he played for three different teams, but is best noted for his time with the Atlanta Braves. His jersey number (3) was retired by the Atlanta Braves on June 13, 1994 and he was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
Hank Aaron steals third at almost 15% of the votes. Aaron held the MLB record for career home runs for 33 years (as the first man to surpass Babe Ruth's original record), and he still holds several MLB offensive records. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982. Hank is proud to still call Atlanta home.
The Braves have seen many iconic players come and go over the years. Freddie Freeman, John Smoltz, Javy Lopez, Eddie Mathews and Tom Glavine are our official honorable mentions in this poll; however, they represent only the tip of the talent iceberg. As we give a nod to some of our favorite all-time favorite Braves players, we also salute the greats that are yet to come.
As you reminisce on all of the good times, don't miss a beat as the new season kicks off. It's going to be a big year in baseball.
