Five AJC Cup winners have achieved the nearly impossible by gaining acceptance into an elite Ivy League institution. Even though it means braving the northern cold, they'll have the chance to receive an education at schools respected all over the world. Here are the five who did it.
The AJC Cup is an award that has been given to exceptional high school students in the metro Atlanta area since 1927.
Tessa Palisoc will attend Brown University.
Tessa Palisoc – Brown University. Palisoc is from Norcross and attended The Galloway School in Atlanta. Palisoc was praised for her "spunky, enthusiastic, creative, outside-of-the-box approach to thinking and learning."
Nasreen Brooks Ebd Elal plans to attend Columbia University.
Nasreen Brooks Ebd Elal – Columbia University. Brooks is from Atlanta and attended DeKalb School of the Arts. Brooks was selected from a graduating class of 63.
Christopher Lewis plans to attend Harvard.
Christopher Wiley Lewis – Harvard University. Lewis is from Milton and attended Milton High School. He was called "mature, reliable, and trusted" when he was selected for the award.
Adam Ellis Harper plans to attend Harvard University.
Adam Ellis Harper – Harvard University. Harper is from Cartersville and attended Cartersville High School. He "exemplifies character, integrity, success and humility."
Jaster Wesley Francis Jr. plans to attend Yale University.
Jaster Wesley Francis Jr – Yale University. Francis is from Marietta and attended South Cobb High School. Those who know him call him a "very highly regarded" "servant-leader."
