Journalist and political strategist Goldie Taylor will discuss and sign copies of her new book, “Paper Gods,” on Oct. 24.

The book, released this month by St. Martin’s Press, is a political thriller set in Atlanta.

Taylor took a 10-year break from writing novels to focus on rediscovering her voice.

“I think I needed to understand my own voice and form,” Taylor, currently an editor-at-large for The Daily Beast, said in a previous interview. “I took time to revisit the craft.”

Taylor, who worked on a number of political campaigns, said she wanted to tell a story from an insider’s point of view. The view of someone who had “lived here, loved here and worked here.”

The dramatic rights have been sold to a major Los Angeles-based production company, according to Taylor, who is currently working on her fourth book.

She is also developing a slate of scripted and unscripted television projects.

The discussion and book signing will be held at 6 p.m. at Manuel’s Tavern, 602 North Highland Ave. N.E.
