Cross of Life event to support global missions: Cross of Life Lutheran Church in Roswell will host its fifth annual International Dinner, with proceeds benefiting the church's global missions. The dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church, 1000 Hembree Road. The church's missions include the Padhar Mission School in India, the Galing Foundation in the Philippines and the Malawi Missions in South Africa.

Foods from around the world will be served. Other highlights will include entertainment by a steel drum band, native Philippine dancers and live and silent auctions. Tickets available at the door. Prices are adults, $10; children 12 and under, $5. www.crossoflifelutheran.org.

Polish Pierogi Festival: Fan of Polish cuisine? You can get your eat on at the sixth annual Polish Pierogi Festival from 1 until 8 p.m. Saturday at St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic Church, 85 Gloster Road N.W., Lawrenceville. The free festival celebrates the iconic boiled Polish dumpling and also features Polish bands, and other Polish foods and goods. Food tickets are $1 each. This event is cash only.

Gospel concert at Holy Cross: The Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Decatur will hold a free gospel concert at 3 p.m. Saturday as part of its yearlong 60th anniversary celebration. Performing will be the Atlanta District U.S. Postal Gospel Choir, Gerald Ancrum, Gwendolyn Brown, Edwina Edwards, and Holy Cross' vocalists Carma Chin and Karen Williams. Concordia Chorale in concert: The seven-member Concordia College Alabama Chorale will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 621 17th Ave. in Columbus. The Concordia Chorale is part of the larger CCA Concert Choir. Donations will be accepted to support the educational ministry of Concordia. The concert is free. Beth-Sarah Wright will discuss depression: Beth-Sarah Wright, wife of Atlanta's Episcopal Bishop Rob Wright, will discuss surviving depression and her current and upcoming books on the topic. She will speak and sign copies of her books from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Cathedral of St. Philip bookstore, 2744 Peachtree Road N.W.

Wright, an author and lecturer, has published two books on depression: "Me? Depressed?: A Story of Depression From Denial to Discovery" and "10 Things I Wish I Knew About Depression Before It Almost Took My Life." She also recently published a spiritual novel, "Weeping May Endure for a Night." She is working on a fourth set to be published in fall 2015 by Church Publishing Inc. www.stphilipscathedral.org.

Randall Franks at Shiloh Hills: Randall Franks, former star of "In the Heat of the Night," bluegrass singer and author, will perform at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at Shiloh Hills Baptist Church, 75 Hawkins Store Road in Kennesaw. Franks will join the acoustic Southern gospel Watkins Family and Solid Gospel radio and Harmony Road TV host Les Butler.
