After numerous followers suggested someone send a photo of Lt. Eric Fields to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, it appears the actor has seen it.
“Oh s--t! Wow. Guy on the left is way cooler. Stay safe brother and thank you for your service. One day we’ll drink @Teremana and I need to hear all your “Rock stories” because I KNOW you got ‘em” #ericfields
On Monday, Johnson retweeted a post by Bleacher Report showing a side-by-side comparison of the officer and actor.
The Alabama lieutenant went viral after the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office posted a photo of him to its Facebook page. The post led to a viral TikTok video.
Fields has been with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office for 17 years at the jail, in investigations, in the special victims unit, and with drug-endangered children. Now a lieutenant, he currently handles tactical training and serves as firearms instructor.
The sheriff’s office reacted to Johnson’s tweet later Tuesday.
“Looks like Dwayne The Rock Johnson is aware of our Lt. Fields. Hopefully he’ll take us up on our offer to come spend time on patrol with us,” they wrote on their Facebook page.
“We’re gonna need a bigger tahoe for these two,” the sheriff’s office joked in the post.
Fields acknowledged said in an interview with Alabama news outlet Advance Local that being mistaken for a celebrity like Johnson is “nerve-wracking” and adds pressure to live up to others’ expectations.
“I don’t want to disappoint anybody,” he said. “I walk up one day and at a different angle, I don’t know. It’s flattering, but it’s also a little nerve-racking as far as what others expect I guess.”
