A third-grader in Florida used his creativity to teach his school about Black leaders and innovators.

Dana Boone, with the help of his mom Charnetta Starr, transformed the periodic table of elements into the “Periodic Table of Black History,” with each element honoring one of 90 Black historical figures, WESH2 reported.

The Black History Month project honors the achievements of past and present Black activists, inventors, scientists and more.

The inspiring project is now proudly displayed in his Orlando elementary school’s hallways.

“I wanted to represent our Black culture and I wanted to represent all the amazing people in this project,” Dana told the news outlet.

In order to get the project done in time for the first day of Black History Month, the mother-son duo started working on the project on Jan. 20. Starr told the outlet the idea for the project came from a friend.

“I’m hoping that students and teachers will learn about more people who have contributed to the success of Black culture and the history and all of the things they’ve contributed,” Starr said to WESH2.
