According to Hollywood Unlocked, Chris Brown, alongside a number of his crew, jumped Usher during Brown’s 34th birthday party in Las Vegas on May 5. Since then, however, new reports have questioned the original story.

Usher hosted a surprise party for Brown in Skate Rock City, where things reportedly went downhill fast. Brown, while allegedly intoxicated, got “disrespectful” with singer and actress Teyana Taylor for an “unknown reason.” Hollywood Unlocked’s undisclosed source said Brown called Usher a “coward” after the longtime Atlanta resident attempted to deescalate the encounter.

Brown then allegedly jumped Usher outside the venue, where the R&B singer suffered a “bloodied nose.” Shortly after reports of the incident began cropping up, TMZ released footage of a “heated argument” that allegedly led to the scuffle. While TMZ did not reveal its source, the entertainment media company said it was told the video was taken early Saturday morning at the Skate Rock City roller rink.

On Saturday, May 6, Brown and Usher both went on to perform at the Lovers & Friends Festival in Las Vegas with no visible injuries, leading many to believe the alleged scuffle may have been exaggerated. On Sunday, TMZ released backstage footage from the event that allegedly showed Brown’s involvement in another potential altercation during Missy Elliott’s set on Saturday. However, Brown was quick to offer a statement on the matter.

“Yall been geeked all weekend, y’all dragging it now,” Brown commented on a post showing fan-captured footage from the festival. “It was mad people backstage and security was trying to clear everyone off the stage. People started pushing back.. I intervened to let them know my child was back there. So y’all can keep ya narrative.”

Neither Brown nor Usher have provided a statement on the alleged altercation. However, footage of Usher backstage, seemingly positive and enjoying the performances, during the event has begun circulating. That footage can be seen above.

With little evidence to corroborate Hollywood Unlocked’s claims of the fracas, many Twitter users have begun voicing their disbelief.
