A fast-moving fire broke out at the iconic Midtown Krispy Kreme about 1 a.m., and it didn’t take Atlantans long to react on social media.
Cellphone videos taken by neighbors and spectators showed flames shooting into the sky above the shop, which was purchased by NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal in 2016, Chelsea Prince reported early this morning. O’Neal has not commented on the fire Wednesday morning.

RIP Ponce Krispy Kreme. I will miss you, and your hot doughnuts now sign. Whenever I went back to Atlanta, you made me feel like I had never left.

That neon sign is how I directed people to my very first apartment in the city, on Argonne. It’s also where I waited for a tow truck for 5 hours in full belly dance makeup with @ktmriley. Everyone has a Ponce Krispy Kreme story. https://t.co/9SNgZq4mHl
