Dust off those flip flops and brace yourself for a frozen, blended  and — most importantly —  free treat, Atlanta.
For the 10th year, Tropical Smoothie Café, the sandwich and smoothie shop that boasts "bold, flavorful food and smoothies with a healthy appeal," will celebrate its own national holiday, National Flip Flop Day, by welcoming customers at any of their more than 300 stores to show up in their flip flops between 2 and 7 p.m. today for a free 24-ounce Jetty Punch, a strawberry banana frozen drink.
The Tallahassee-based franchise has eight locations in metro Atlanta, including spots in Alpharetta, Suwanee and Kennesaw.
Beyond the love of summer footwear, the restaurant puts on the flip flop holiday as a fundraiser for  Camp Sunshine at Sebago Lake, a retreat based in Casco, Maine, for families of children with life-threatening illnesses. Customers are encouraged to give $1 toward Camp Sunshine today.
This year, the café hopes to raise $1 million for the families at Camp Sunshine. Through previous fundraisers, Tropical Smoothie Café has raised $3.7 million for the camp.
