Cars & 'Q for the Cause is fast approaching on Saturday. And the "guest list" of big-name cars that'll be at the event at Choate Construction's Atlanta headquarters is filling up.
Along with the 1955 MG TF pictured here, you’ll get to fawn all over a 1935 Auburn Speedster, a 1962 Porsche 356, a 1969 Camaro Z-28 and a Panoz LMP-1 — some 100 classic, muscle and exotic cars.
While also filling up on tasty barbecue, beer and cocktails and raising money for the fight against cystic fibrosis.
Cars & ‘Q for the Cause began in 2009 as a small get-together of car-loving Choate employees. It quickly found a bigger audience and an even greater reason for being as a CF fundraiser. Last year’s crowd of about 600 helped Cars & ‘Q donate $175,000 to the CF Foundation.
It's personal. Emily Choate Bridges isn't just director of marketing at the company founded by her father, Millard, in 1989. She's also lifelong best friends with Leann Rittenbaum Ott, who was diagnosed with CF at the age of 3. Last year, the AJC recounted the inspiring story of how Emily and Leann — and both their sets of parents — stuck together and supported each other through years of dealing with the life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system.
In that time, Choate Construction has raised $2.5 million for CF through events like Cars & 'Q for the Cause. But wait, the story gets even better: Saturday will mark six weeks to the day since Leann, now 30, married Douglas Ott at the Marriott on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta. As usual, Bridges, also 30, was right by her side as a bridesmaid. And her own husband, Stephen, officiated at the ceremony.
Cars & 'Q for the Cause takes place from 4 - 7 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at 8200 Roberts Drive, Atlanta. For tickets and more information (including a list of some of the cool cars that showed up last year), go to carsnq.passioncff.org
