After singer Katy Perry presented Dolly Parton with the Tex Ritter Award in honor of the 2015 TV movie about her life, "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors," the two famed singers joined together for a duet that brought country music fans to their feet.
Parton and Perry appeared together at the 2016 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday night and delighted fans by going back and forth on a medley of Parton's biggest hits.

“Her grandpa was a preacher, my father was a preacher, we both grew up singing and playing guitar in church, and we’re both known for some of the…biggest…songs in our fields,” Perry told the crowd.
Though the two had never met each other prior to the ACM Awards weekend, Parton said she was going to feel right at home singing along with the much younger singer.
"I know [Perry] comes to Dollywood, brings her friends," Parton explained to Rolling Stone. "I've tried to get to do some things before and it never worked out with our schedules. But I know she grew up in a spiritual family. … I think her daddy was preacher or something like that. I think she relates to me in that respect. I don't know her yet, but I hope to get to and maybe we'll get a chance to do something."
After receiving a standing ovation after getting the award, Parton explained that she didn’t deserve one.
“I don’t think I’m all that, but thank you for the standing ovation.”
